Garfield
Court: First LEED Silver Certified HOPE VI Development in New Jersey
January 2009 – Long Branch Housing Authority’s Garfield Court
development is the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) in
the State of New Jersey. The LEED certification will provide third-party
assurance to homebuyers that their home meets a high standard of energy and
water efficiency, indoor air quality, non-toxic materials, and environmental
performance. Lower insurance rates, advantageous financing, and government
incentives may be available for LEED-certified homes.
Long
Branch Chamber of Commerce presents Long Branch Housing Authority with the
President’s Award. November 2008 – The President’s Award
recognizes businesses and institutions that have enhanced living and working
conditions in the Long Branch area. This year’s prestigious President’s Award
goes to the City of Long Branch Housing Authority for their outstanding
contribution to the City of Long Branch.
Presidential Estates receives the Monmouth County Planning Board Awards
October 2008 - The new seventy unit townhouses designed by WRT and
developed by Pennrose Properties LLC, were recognized for its outstanding
architectural design and for successfully revitalizing the community. The
redevelopment of Presidential Estates formerly Grant Court, has not only helped
in restoring the spirit and pride within the community but has peeked the
curiosity of many outside of Long Branch.

Literacy Grant from New Jersey Department of Labor for $97,800.00 to provide
training to current housing authority residents in such basic skills as work
readiness, basic communication and fundamental skills to increase
self-sufficiency among the residents in our community.

Housing Authority announced
Agency is taking over management and maintenance responsibilities for Hampton
Apartments as of November 1, 2006. The 63-unit consists of 1 BR apartments that
will undergo several upgrades consistent with LBHA’s property standards.
Garrett said, “the Hampton Apartments will operate under the same rules and
regulations as all other properties managed by the Long Branch Housing
Authority.”

Housing Authority FY2006 Home Program receives $750,000.00 grant from Monmouth
County Board of Chosen Freeholders for Grant Court Housing Association. Randy
Phillips, Asst. Exec. Director of LBHA said, “the county’s contribution to the
revitalization effort currently being undertaken by the LBHA is greatly
appreciated and will go a long way in assisting us in our goal of providing
well-built, well-designed affordable housing units in an area in need of such
housing.”

NANCY Zimmerman was a single parent whose
income from a part-time job could not pay the rent for her apartment. That was
before she learned about the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development
Section 8 Welfare-to-Work Rental Voucher Initiative program, which deals with
public housing and is administered by the Long Branch Housing Authority.
Police form quality-of-life special unit
October 9, 2003 -
The Long Branch Police Department is taking a
more aggressive approach toward law enforcement in two specific locations n the
city. On Sept. 2, the Police Department formed a two-part Quality of Life unit
divided to cover two areas of Long Branch. The northern area consists of Long
Branch Housing Authority property,

The Long Branch Housing Authority has unveiled
a $3.8 million energy-improvement plan, and the authority expects to recoup $2.7
million of the cost through more efficient use of water and natural gas, and
